Nearby places app-Proximus is basically a location based android application. This app helps to know about the address and location of nearby places. Users can find places such as hospitals, banks, schools and restaurants within a radius of 3kms from their current location. According to a recent survey conducted by Google, majority of users tend to search by “asking” Google to direct them to places that are near to their current location. Proximus is an excellent application that helps such users. It is secure as it provides authentication by verifying the phone number via otp login system.

The key purpose of developing Proximus app was to help people to get an idea of nearby places. When people travel to different localities, this app becomes extremely useful. This app will also be of great help in case of medical emergencies. It helps to locate the nearest hospitals in case of road accidents and other hazards. Proximus provides an attractive user friendly interface. Hence, common people can easily use it. It can be directly downloaded from Play Store on android phones. This was developed from scratch by Silfra Technologies, by making use of google maps api, google places api and google play services. Proximus app makes use of firebase for authentication and SQLite for storing status information.

 

 

With the development of Proximus, the purpose of client is completely satisfied as it allows the citizens to easily navigate to their nearby places. This is an online application. Hence, it can be used only with internet connection. This app is not compatible with android versions below 4.4 (KitKat) and hence cannot be used by people who are using old android smartphones. Currently this app can be used only in India. The future roadmap of this app is to develop it further to be used in all parts of the globe.
