WeCall is an android communication app developed by Silfra Technologies. It facilitates mobile users to communicate with each other via audio calls and video calls. WeCall is very helpful especially for professionals who are travelling. It has a screen sharing feature which lets users share their mobile screen with others. Hence, it allows the users to effectively communicate with each other with ease. Also, the app has minimal or less bloatware. It is for free and can be directly downloaded from Google Play Store.

This communication app provides a user friendly interface that is very simple to use. Also, the benefit of WeCall is that it drastically reduces the cost of communication. Another advantage of this communication app is that it can be catered for any specific organization. So, WeCall can be called as a “customized communication app” . It is compatible with almost all android devices (Starting from Icecream sandwich to Oreo). This app is built using Quickblox API which is based on Google’s webRTC. WebRTC is a collection of communications protocols and application programming interfaces that enable real-time communication over peer-to-peer connections. Quickblox server will cater to specific organizations. WeCall does not provide platform to any type of ads. Hence, it is highly secure and offers a smooth experience.

A user should initially be registered in the app using his mobile number and username. After that he will be able to see all the users registered on the app with whom he can make a call depending upon his preference. Each user has a unique id. Quickblox api creates a new session as and when a call initialization happens through google’s Webrtc implementation. Consequently, the information about the users is saved in a separate server on quickblox.

 

The future roadmap of this communication app is to implement a functionality to invite users from personal/professional contacts. It can also be developed for other platforms like windows/ios.
